My Birthday outfit

My birthday was on January 9, so my husband and I celebrated by going out to dinner and a movie. We went and watched the movie How Do You Know, and I thought it was a good movie, not the greatest movie to rave about but it was ok. For dinner my husband got a steak with lobster and mashed potatoes, and I got bbq chicken with mashed potatoes, and some yummy rolls!!!

For my outfit I wanted to be slightly dressed up, but still casual enough for the movies. I wore a long sleeve black shirt under my purple peacoat. The coat came from H&M, the scarf came from Target, the jeggings from Kohl's, and the boots also from Kohl's. I had a very fun night and a great birthday. :) How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

I have been wanting to get a DSLR camera since July when my mother-in-law went the Rockies and took the most amazing pictures ever! They seriously looked like something off of a postcard! So I decided to do some research on different cameras and their options for versatility. I didn't want to choose anything too expensive just yet because I am a newbie to the whole SLR type of camera. So I decided to go Canon instead of Nikon mainly because I love every Canon camera that I have ever owned and they have such good quality cameras that take amazing quality pictures. One of the main reasons though for choosing this camera over the Nikon was because it has the option for live view in manual mode, as Nikon doesn't have this option. Also Canon has a HUGE selection for lenses...which I have been eyeing already!!!! :) I can't tell you guys how happy I am with this purchase and how pleased I am with the camera. It takes amazing pictures and I ready to go vacations and go to events or anything just to use this thing to the most I can get out of it!!! I highly highly recommend this camera to any starters!

The beauty of fall..

I love fall, it is one of my favorite times of the year. As I was taking my dog for a walk today on this beautiful fall day I couldn't resist taking pictures of the beautiful changing trees. The colors just amaze me every year, even though I expect it, it still amazes me how beautiful it is! All of these were taken with my cell phone surprisingly...enjoy :)

I'm gettin' prepared!!!

I feel like sometimes I get so busy trying to remember to do videos I forget to come here and post every once in a while. Things have slowed down a bit the past week. I am so ready to go back home to Va and see my family for Thanksgiving. This is such a special holiday to me because not only do I get to go home and see my family for Thanksgiving, I get to enjoy my grandma's pies....yummm!!! I can't wait. BUT the really REALLY exciting part of Thanksgiving time? BLACK FRIDAY!!! Heck yea! I am a religiously a black friday shopper. Ever since I was probably 14/15 (?) I have been getting up at 4am to go stand outside Walmart until 6am to bust through the doors and run to the items I've been eyeing in the papers. This year I've got quite a few things I am rushing to get. Last year I got a 40" Apex flat screen t.v. for $470. This year the item I am getting isn't nearly as big but more expensive and soooo worth it! I've got my elbows ready now to knock these people out of my way! lol TOTALLY kidding! But this has been a tradition for quite a few years now and just recently my 10 years old niece has joined us on this adventure. I must say I like having her with me :) So look out for my black friday post, it will be filled with pictures of lines that are uber long lol and people piled galor. It sounds like its a headache waiting to happen but I love it :)

It's been a while..

It seems like it's been a while since I've posted. I have been busy trying to get somethings done here in my town before I leave for the weekend for my brothers wedding. I also have a millions to get done for the wedding. I will definitely be posting pictures from the wedding of my hair and makeup which will be done all by ME! I am able to do my own hair and makeup so why have someone else do it and then I possibly don't like it? So this is the style that I tried out tonight. I usually go for my hair being down but I'm thinking about having it up like this. What do you think? It needs to be curled in places a little more but in person it looks so glamourous! I loved getting all dolled up. Also I'll be going to the Marine Corps Ball in Nov so I'll be doing a video for my hair and makeup looks. I'm excited and can't wait. I just have to find a dress!!

More gloomy days...fall is on its way!

So we finally got rid of all the rain after 4 straight days of it. I've seen so much damage around here and it's really sad. A few people have had to move out of apartments that I pass everyday going to work, due to the rain flooding their complexes. So sad! So we had a really great sunny day yesterday and the weather was perfect. Today is a new day...and a new gloomy day. I love fall but I like it when it's sunny and chilly, not this gloomy skies! It makes me lazy lazy. I will be posting a couple more videos in the next couple of days. Keep an eye out for those and I will see you guys soon! TTYL!

Swatches and stuff..

Yesterday during my lunch break at work, I walked over to Ulta because I heard they were having the 40% off on Maybelline, L'oreal, and NYX products so I definitely wanted to take advantage of that because there was a few products I've been wanting to try but didn't want to pay full price in case I didn't like them. So one thing I went in there for was the Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse foundation. Now I've tried the the liquid one and I hated that. It made my face extremely oily (and it's oily enough as it is!), so that was one reason I threw it away. Another was because I felt like it was really thick on my face and no matter how much I tried to put very little it still felt super thick, so I didn't use that stuff but for one week. So I'm hoping this Smooth Mousse one will be better. I'm having my doubts though because I did a few swatches last night and it looks really dark for it to be porcelain ivory. And that's supposed to be one of the lightest colors! So hopefully it works out because usually the mousse products are less oily for my face.

Another product I've been wanting to try is the Maybelline eye studio gel liner. I bought a gel liner a while back and this one was by Jane. It came with a brush as well but the quality of the product was horrible! It rubs off so easily and if you try to wipe of where it smudged it makes a really long dark smudge mark and you have to do your makeup all over because it ruins it. So hopefully this works as well. And it says its waterproof so I'm hoping that it holds up to that because I'm looking for a great water line eye liner that won't wash off my eye from my natural eye fluids.

Lastly I wanted to try out a glitter/pigments kind of eyeshadow. I don't like anything too out there and bright, but the one I got is absolutely gorgeous!! I'm thinking about being a Barbie for Halloween for the kids lol so I think this is going to be a great product to achieve that! It's by LA Splash and the color is unsolved. It is super pigmented if you barely barely touch it!! I'm pretty excited to use it and I'm temped to go back and get another one lol!
